Chapters 1 and 2
Exposition
Characters:John Conlan, Lorraine Jensen, Mr. Angelo Pignati
Setting:Franklin High School
Introduction of Conflict:They are trying to tell everyone what happened to Mr pignati and themselves by writing this story.
What we know about the characters:John has many bad habits like smoking and drinking.John even has bad grades because he is missing 42 assignments.
Lorraine's mom works as a private nurse.
They are sophomores.
Lorraine's mom tells her all the time that she is not a pretty girl. Lorraine and John are friends.chapter 2 page 9. Lorraine does not listen to her mother cause if she did she would always be asking questions about her self and looking at her self.
Lorraine's mother always tells her to be careful of men because she was cheated on by her husband.
Chapters 3 and 4
What mainly happens in chapter 3 and 4? They are telling how much fun the telephone marathons are. They all call different numbers and try to keep them on for as long as they can.
Lorraine "randomly" chose Mr. Pignati.
Lorraine pretended to be a charity worker to keep Mr. Pignati on the phone.
In chapters 3 and 4
They assume that Mr. Pignati is lonely because every time they call him during a phone marathon, he drags the conversation out on the phone. Mr. Pignati says that he will donate $10 to the fake charity. Thats when they get the idea to collect the money.
Telephone marathons is where the kids would all go to a persons house and take a telephone book, they would close there eyes and then they would run there finger down the book until they stopped on a name and then they would go and call that number to see who could keep the person on the phone the longest till the person hung up the phone Because they found out it was a joke.
The characters Dennis and Norton are introduced, in these chapters. Dennis, Norton, Lorraine, and John all played these phone games where they pick random people out of the phone book to prank call. Lorraine called a man who they discovered was lonely. However, he offered John and Lorraine ten dollars for their fake charity. This man was named Mr. Pignati.
Chapters 5 and 6
The pigman told them story's. When John and Lorraine go to the Pigman's house they realize he is a kind hearted,but first they think he is going to kill them with a big knife. They also feel he acts like a little kid because of what he says and does. They go to the zoo with Mr.Pignati, and he takes them to meet his friend Bobo. They leave Mr. Pignati there for a little while and they go to take a tour of the zoo. They see all kinds of animals, they mess with the monkeys and eat a lot of peanuts. When John and Lorraine get back Mr. Pignati is feeding a monkey from the outside of its cage.
In chapters 5 and 6
The kids discovered that he had a lot of pigs. The white pig was Mr. Pignati's wife's favorite.
Mr. Pignati first started collecting pigs when he got his wife one for a present. His wife is currently way in California with family.
When John and Lorraine go to the Pigman's house they realize he is a kind hearted, old man. They also feel he acts like a little kid because of what he says and does.
In chapter 5 John is in trouble by his mom for getting 10 dollars from pig man. John meets Lorraine at a street corner to go to the pig mans house. Pig mans wife is in California visiting her sister, and that is why his house is a mess. In chapter 6 the kids found out that pig man's wife collected little pig trinkets and that he and his wife go to the zoo every day.
Chapters 7 and 8
In chapter 7 and 8 John and Lorraine find out that the Pigman's wife is really dead. They find out that she is dead because they find a paper with his wifes name on it, and there are questions about where she should be buried at and how the Pigman was going to pay for the expenses.
Mr. Pignati is in denial about his wife being dead. I know this because he says she is in California and Lorraine and John found the paper work about his wife being dead.John and Lorraine go to the zoo with Mr.Pignati , they have alot of fun.Mr.Pignati talks a lot about his wife and shows them some of her things but never admits that she is dead.
Chapters 9 and 10
In chapter nine John tells us how he really feels about Norton. We learn Norton is a bad boy, that John wants nothing to do with him. Norton invites John to the cemetery to discuss why John is always over at the Pigman's house. Norton questions John's answers, because he wants to go over and see if theres anything worth stealing. In chapter ten John and Lorraine continue to go over to the Pigman's house where they soon come clean that their not charity workers. The Pigman also confesses that his wife is not in California, that she has passed away. Then the Pigman tells Lorraine and John a murder story to test their personalities.
Chapters 11 and 12
Mr.Pignati has a heart attack due to his working in the snow all day and roller skating. Lorraine and John lie to the police and hospital workers saying that Mr. Pignati is their father. After Lorraine and John cut school yet again to go visit Mr. Pignati they return to his household while he is still in the hospital recovering. Lorraine and John dress up in old clothes of Mr. Pignati and his wife and had a romantic moment. However, later in chapter twelve Lorraine and John start constantly arguing.
Chapters 13 and 14
Mr. Pignati returns from the hospital and has noticed that his house is trashed from John and Lorraine's party.
Lorraine gets punished by her mom and John really did not get punished that much. They both kind of got punished by the Pigman because he was kind of upset at them, and they did not want that. They apologized to him.
In chapter 13, Lorraine and John are throwing the party. They have beer and more people show up than intentionally planned. Then John sees the pigs being broken. The white one is broken right in front of him and he beats up Norton. Then the Pigman shows up.
Chapter 15
John and Lorraine are really sad and depressed about Mr. Pignati's death. Lorraine can't believe that they murdered him. She's so mad she screams. They realize what they are going to miss about him even if it wasn't about the baboons. They will still miss him very very much
